Riverhurst Residence

2009-2011

At just over 3,000sf this compact, three-bedroom residence was designed to articulate a new architectural language for high-performance residential design in a New England Vernacular. Located on a waterfront parcel in southern Connecticut, this proposal for the town's first PassivHaus adopted a traditional gabled New England vernacular and introduced a simple offset volume that massed onto the southern exposure of the building identifying the house's primary entrance, offering unobstructed views through the house to the water, and enabling the building's passive lighting and conditioning strategies.
